My philosophy is that of Hippocrates, the father of Medicine:
"Nature is always the only doctor of diseases.
Nature finds the ways of healing without thinking."
My approach is not alternative or interventional, it is complementary to the self-healing effort already carried out in the body and/or by the treating physician. In other words, I try to additionally help create conditions for "Nature" to do her work.
Today's era is characterized by fast pace, worries and stress, we could say by action. The part of the nervous system that controls and drives this behaviour is the sympathetic nervous system. Its antagonist is the parasympathetic nervous system which is responsible for digestion, rest and restoration of the body. With the methods I apply it is exactly this system that I am trying to bring to the surface.
In general, touch therapies modify myofascial and muscle tension pain by reducing muscle tension and spasms. Effects include relaxation of the individual, reduction of anxiety and reduction of pain. The importance of reducing stress in today's life is related to the fact that the most commonly recognized pain such as spasms and tension is muscular. It has been documented that tension and worry can increase the pain you experience. Anxiety and depression have also been shown to worsen pain. Based on the assumption that there is a close relationship between pain and stress, it follows that modification of one factor through the application of massage or other touch therapies would then modify the other factor and that pain and stress relief enhances relaxation.
With health,
Spyros Dimitrakoulas
